I just got back from a whirlwind trip to Vegas for New Years Eve. I had a great time, but being around all the cigarette smoke, alcohol, and very cold dry air-my skin was a mess. I was tired of going out to eat, I missed all my health food at home. I felt bloated, tired, and just plain gross. Luckily I know a few skincare and diet tricks. As soon as I got home I drank a ton of water, including hot water with lemon which helps to detoxify the liver. Take a couple probiotics, and then I made a large amount of Kimberly Snyder’s Glowing Green Smoothie. If you don’t know what it is, you can google the recipe. So now tummy is back to being flat, the body is hydrated, and getting a lot of nutrient dense liquid in the smoothie.
So the body is back to normal, now what about the skin? Whenever my skin is dehydrated or even if I get a sunburn I always use La Mer, the healing concentrate serum. It is incredibly soothing and hydrating, but you can even use it on acne prone skin. After applying the serum, I apply the La Mer cream. It is very dense and a little goes a long why. For eyes, must have sublimage eye cream by Chanel. The best eye cream I have EVER found. It de-puffs and brightens the under eye area like nothing else I have ever seen.
For dry, chapped, and peeling lips you can use the lip balm by La Mer which is quite nice. If you like a lip treatment that plumps up lips, then try Fusion XL Lip plumper. This is one of the few lip plumping glosses that actually makes a noticeable difference. Fusion is sold at Ulta. Chanel and La Mer are sold at most Nordstrom and Saks 5th ave stores. Some of these items are a bit pricey, but they really last a long time. Feel free to go to a make up counter and ask to try it or get a sample. Say a friend was raving about it and you want to make sure it works for you before you purchase anything. Be sure to follow the directions of application. The person at the counter should be happy to show you. Let me know your thoughts…or your favorite remedies:) Important to remember that caffeine is really dehydrating, so go easy on the coffee or nothing well help your skin…and green tea is a diarrhetic, also good for taking away bloating. Water is still #1. this is what will make your skin look its very best.
